It is always prestige and at the same time a challenge to work with iconic architecture. This was also the case with a monumental tunnel in the heart of Rotterdam - the Maastunnel.

The oldest tunnel in the Netherlands was recently under overhaul and upgrade, involved both structural and technical aspects, amongst which a major alteration of the tunnel ventilation. The importance and complexity of the job to preserve the monument was put under further stress by new regulations.

This entailed implementation of NOVENCO’s longitudinal ventilation system to create safe conditions for the evacuation of people in the event of a tunnel fire and to provide fire brigades with smoke-free attack routes.
