27,000 LED streetlights, controlled with LUMINTELL™ remote lighting management system and the capacity to generate Public Wi-Fi will help transform Talca municipality into a smart city.
ONE OF THE BIGGEST LIGHTING PROJECTS WITH LUMINTELL™ AND WI-FI IN LATIN AMERICA
The municipality of Talca, in Chile, will become the first municipality in Latin America to install a total of 27,000 LED streetlights, controlled with LUMINTELL™ remote lighting management system and the capacity to generate Public Wi-Fi.
Energy consumption will be drastically reduced due to the switch to high-performance energy-efficient LED lighting. At the same time, the quality of light will improve and CO2 emissions will be reduced.
FACTS AND FIGURES
In particular, a 66% annual reduction in electricity consumption is expected. This means a drop of almost 8,000,000 kWh per year. Additionally, CO2 emissions to the atmosphere are expected to be reduced by 2,227 tons a year.
The investment, including installation, has a payback period of less than 5 years, equal to the warranty period of 5 years. The technical lifetime of the installation is 16.7 years, more than 3 times the payback period and the warranty period.
According to Juan Chávez, the Managing Director at Novalume Chile, Novalume provided the best solution for Talca’s Mayor, Enrique Castro Prieto, in his efforts to reduce the operating expenditure of the city while minimizing their environmental impact and transforming Talca City into a smart city.
