The constructional principles for Oikos Avrio are simple. All components are prefabricated and mounted at the factory, where the electricity is preinstalled in the walls. This also counts for the water pipes and electricity that are running under the floor and in the ceiling. The LED lighting is preinstalled from factory and is spread delightful on the ceiling. Each lamp can be regulated according to the need, especially in the kitchen. The wall cladding is made in recycling materials. Oikos Avrio is made so all component can be recycled like the theories behind ‘cradle to cradle’. And therefore, parts of the house can be sold, exported, and appropriated by another user without any major construction renovations or moving out of the house. The designers of housing in the future must recognize and design for flexibility and evolution in one’s lifetime.

The home uses zero energy, because it produces it own energy, it is self sufficient and the family living there, will not get any bills.

  • Energy - By photovoltaic that converts light directly into electricity.
  • Water - Rainwater used for watering the garden and save water solutions, which means that the water from the bath is reused for flushing the toilet and for the dishwasher in the kitchen.
  • Heating - Only by underfloor heating in all rooms.
  • Ventilation - By natural ventilation but in the bathroom and kitchen mechanical ventilation.
