Momentum Gruppen increases its management portfolio significantly

Momentum Gruppen is a highly specialised company with focus on development, procurement and management of wind turbines and PV plants. Through the last 16 years the company has achieved a position as one of the markets leading independent managers of solar and wind energy assets and manages assets with a combined value of more than DKK 3.6 billion divided on +400 wind turbines and 6 PV plants in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, England and France comprising +140 owner companies with more than 1.000 owners.

Management of wind turbines and PV plants takes places in a dynamic and volatile industry where frequent implementation of new legislation provides new possibilities as well as increasing requirements. Thus, management of wind turbines and PV plants continues to be a challenging and complex business, which in the future will increase the requirements of management companies and their set-up considerably.

With this in consideration the two owners Casper and Mikkel Rasmussen decided to sell their management company IWE Administration which manage approximately 130 MW wind and solar energy in Germany and Britain to Momentum Gruppen.

The acquisition of the Swedish management company Wickmann Wind’s management portfolio happens as part of a generational handover, as the longstanding business partner and owner, Andreas Wichmann, wishes to reduce this business area because of retirement plans.

Owner and CEO of Momentum Gruppen states: With the acquisition of both IWE Administration and the management portfolio of Wickmann Wind, Momentum Gruppen strengthens its market position as an independent manager of wind turbines and PV plants owned by Danish and international investors. We increase the volume of our own management portfolio und will because of these acquisitions be able to reach sizeable advantages for our customers through attractive framework agreements and to optimize our management set-up. These acquisitions are the 3rd and 4th of its kind that Momentum Gruppen has conducted in the past 6 years, which in turn makes the company the leading consolidator within this niche of the wind and solar energy industry. At the same time it is an important step on the road to evolve and broaden the international profile of Momentum Gruppen with the main goal to become a dominant European asset management company within renewable energy, which is necessary in order to service pension funds and investment companies with activities in several countries.”
