Momentum acquires Fikon ApS and Karrebæk Wind ApS

With this acquisition, Momentum Energy Group A/S significantly strengthens its technical competences and at the same time expands its position as a Danish leader within operation and ownership of older wind turbines in Denmark. The company now has +140 turbines in its Danish portfolio.

The Roskilde based company, Momentum Energy Group A/S, has made another purchase in Denmark. As of June 30, 2021, the company has taken over all the shares in Karrebæk Vind ApS and Fikon ApS. The acquisition comes with 51 turbines in Denmark. At the same time, the two previous owners, Leif Kyhl Johansen, and Rasmus Okkels, are hired to build a wind turbine service department for the Momentum group. Fikon ApS also changes its name to Momentum Energy Wind Services ApS

Momentum Energy Group A/S CEO, Kim Madsen, tells: “With this exciting acquisition, the Momentum group continues its journey towards becoming one of Denmark's leaders within operation, maintenance and development of existing wind turbine projects in Denmark. The purchase comes with many years of technical experience from both Leif and Rasmus who have in-depth competencies within operation and repair of slightly older turbines. The plan is that we will continue our expansion in building a platform, that can serve both own and external customers on the platform”.

With the acquisition of Karrebæk Vind ApS, at the same time changing its name to Momentum Energy Karrebæk ApS, Momentum expands its portfolio of wind turbines in Denmark to +140 turbines. The acquisition is thus a continuation of the strategy of purchasing wind turbines in Denmark, which was started with the acquisition of GPP's wind turbine portfolio last summer.

With the acquisition of the two companies, the previous owners make a successful exit from their companies, after many years of cooperation and building their portfolio of wind turbines. In relation to the transaction, they both agree: “We must acknowledge that with only two people in the organization, we have reached our limit on how far we can run our joint businesses. We still have many ideas and dreams about the wind-industry and when discussions with Momentum intensified, we felt that time was ripe to make our exit and at the same time join an exciting company that we know well. The possibility to simultaneously build an efficient wind turbine service department in Denmark, with the resources that Momentum provides us, is an opportunity that we simply could not turn down" says Leif Kyhl Johansen and Rasmus Okkels.

The transaction came into being with funding from Lollands Bank who knew the previous owners, having managed the financing of their wind turbines and service business. Business Consultant, Michael Pedersen from Lollands Bank explains: “With Momentum's purchase we end a long and positive collaboration with Leif and Rasmus on wind turbine operation. But a new cooperation now begins with Momentum. The bank very positively welcomes the wind turbine segment and the green energy market in general.  As a local bank we wish to support a continued positive development of the company that Leif and Rasmus have successfully built up. We are looking forward to be working with Momentum, whom we see as just the right partner in this segment”.
