Mita-Teknik delivers innovative Turbine Control solutions for Fuhrländer Windtechnology LLC, ensuring higher profits and performance.

Total control of wind turbines in all weather conditions is vital in supplying reliable and high-quality renewable energy. Something Fuhrländer Wind technology LLC was well aware of, when they bought the license to manufacture a 3.0 MW wind turbine from the German design house W2E Wind to Energy GmbHin 2013. Having high demands for an intelligent and advanced control solution required a system supplier with knowhow and expertise in the field of complete wind turbine control.

Partnering for Success

The partnership with Mita-Teknik was initiated by the development of the 3.0 MW turbine. Through a thorough requirement specification process, it quickly became clear that Mita-Teknik were able to deliver a suitable solution, matching the needs from Fuhrländer Windtechnology LLC.

In 1984, Mita-Teknik delivered the first control system. Since then, Mita-Teknik their well-known technology and knowhow with outstanding robustness and dedicated user-friendliness, making their control platforms one of the most powerful and advanced solutions on the market.

The Turbine Control solution from Mita-Teknik benefits from the experience and success of more than 50,000 installed systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation, and optimizes the wind turbine’s output according to the given weather conditions. It handles all communication and make collected and stored operation data available for further analysis and optimization.

New Developments

When Fuhrländer Windtechnology LLC decided to expand their turbine portfolio, the choice was also a W2E turbine design. This time a 4.5 MW with 151 m rotor diameter, making it one of the largest onshore turbines in the world.

In less than 1.5 years, the design including assembly, erection and commissioning was completed, making it a short and effective process achieved through intensive cooperation and partnership between W2E, FWT and Mita-Teknik. In September 2019, the 4.5 MW turbine prototype was successfully commissioned in Ukraine.

When we started our cooperation with FWT and W2E, we quickly realized how we could all benefit from our joint partnership. Especially for our latest 4.5 MW project. All parties worked extremely professionally with the same main goal in mind – making this a trend-setting turbine, says Thomas Liratsch, Vice President Sales at Mita-Teknik.

The 4.5 MW turbine is equipped with a WP4200-08 Controller Platform developed and manufactured by Mita-Teknik; the newest and most powerful controller platform to date with integrated Condition Monitoring.

The GL certified WP4200-08 Controller Platform effectively reduce equipment run-to-failure situations and allows predictive maintenance – effectively optimizing the overall performance of the wind turbine.

 

With 8 external accelerometers strategically placed on the drivetrain, the WP4200-08 monitors the tower and drivetrain components, such as the gearbox, generator and main bearings.

The wind turbine manufacturer Fuhrländer Windtechnology LLC was founded in 2010 and is based in Ukraine. With their modern production facilities built in 2012, FWT has a strong production platform for providing their portfolio of modern wind turbines ranging from 2.0 MW to 4.5 MW.

As Fuhrländer Windtechnology LLC possesses modern technologies, production facilities and high-qualified personnel, they are able to implement projects not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. In 2011, FWT bought their first turbine license for manufacturing the FL2500 wind turbine from its German partner Fuhrländer AG.

Since then, the portfolio has been expanded with several other turbine types such as 2.05, 2.5, 3.0 and 4.5 MW from W2E.

W2E Wind to Energy GmbH is a German engineering company founded in 2003 and based in Rostock, which is specialized in engineering, design, load calculation, FEM analysis, verification, controller design and software development as well as measurement and certification of large wind turbines.
