R&D Project

Green Change Agents – Green Transition for Businesses

In 2014, the Danish government decided to allocate a pool of money for pilot projects that would combine the promotion of green transition and the creation of green jobs in Denmark. This was decided due to the fact that Denmark has many unemployed academics, who are ready to contribute to the established labor market with their many resources.

Project “Green Change Agents” (in danish) is one of the four pilot projects that have received allocations from the pool, because of it’s focus on helping businesses create a green change through the help of a Green Change Agent.
To become a Green Change Agent unemployed academics are trained through a theoretical course followed by a practical internship in a company, where the Green Change Agent will work with environmental tasks.
During the theoretical course, the participants will learn about various sustainability and environmental concepts and applications. Kolding Municipality is also teaching them about the environmental guidelines, procedures and approvals relevant to the companies within the municipality. The Green Change Agents will use and apply this in their practical internship.

An example – Green Change Agent in Kolding Municipality
Besides supporting the project through introduction to relevant theoretical knowledge during the course, Kolding Municipality has been fortunate enough to have a Green Change Agent (Bjarke Bisgaard Rasmussen) conducting his internship within the Industry Department of the municipality. He has during his education as a “Green Change Agent” gained knowledge about green change, CSR and sustainable solutions, that he can incorporate in companies and hence help them make a change. Ha has also worked with how a company can work with the transformation to more sustainable solutions. He is now able to help companies start the green transformation and perform the green change in reality, he explains.

Bjarke is part of the “Better Use of Construction Waste” project, which hopes to reduce the CO2 emissions from the building industry and increase the recycling of construction waste.
