IFHP is a global network of urban professionals who work to make cities better for people. We have existed for 104 years as a membership organisation and an international professional community. We aim to foster the creation of sustainable and liveable housing in urban areas. Since 2005, our main office has been in Copenhagen, Denmark.

We advocate for people’s roles in cities and for social cohesiveness, as it is our belief that a city cannot function and thrive without diversity at all levels. We strive to achieve a combination of local, concrete and implementable actions and global advocacy. Our main activity is our ‘urban labs’. In these ‘laboratories’, members, cities, companies, and organisations present challenges within urban development, where IFHP brings independent expert knowledge from various sectors and nationalities to discuss issues at hand.

In 2018, we launched our new Social Cities programme with the ambition of creating a tool able to gather and translate fragmented data to insights, to connect relevant stakeholders and measure the concrete social impact of political initiatives across several parameters. The aim is to develop a new set of methods to measure, design and implement socially sustainable solutions, in collaboration with citizens, politicians and corporations.
