Fibre produced in Denmark
Fibre from Hveiti is produced on feed wheat.
Normally, feed wheat is not suitable for producing food, but through a biorefining process – using a new technique where 50 % of the fibers are peeled off the grain – it can be used for both food and feed.
On a yearly basis, Hveiti will produce 45,000 tons fibre. The majority of the fibre used for producing food in Denmark is imported. Because of the new peeling method, fibres from Hveiti will be able to replace some of the import, which will have a positive effect on both the climate and the national economy.
Fibres can be used for e.g. breakfast products and flour mixes.
