Full story

Energy Machines, a technology leader in the design, implementation, and operation of integrated energy systems for buildings, today announced it has closed the acquisition of Enopsol, the leading provider of ATES (Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage)-based energy systems in the Danish market. The companies’ complementary technologies share a proven track record of reducing buildings’ carbon footprint while lowering operating costs in the process.

Energy Machines has absorbed Enopsol’s combined 45 years of expertise in energy optimization of heating and cooling systems for buildings and a project portfolio covering 75% of Denmark’s groundwater-based energy installations, including systems for Widex A/S, DEIF A/S, and Bispebjerg Hospital. The acquisition furthers Energy Machines’ commitment to its customers and partners to continue to expand its portfolio of energy systems solutions that enable a future in which buildings accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

“We know Enopsol well and are pleased to add their competencies and expertise in and around ATES solutions that are particularly well suited for the Danish market,” said Johan Gedda, CEO, Energy Machines. “This is an important milestone in our journey of investing in complementary technologies and markets in order to turn every building into a high-performance energy machine. The acquisition follows similar transactions in Sweden and Finland and accelerates Energy Machines’ geographic expansion. We will continue to enable our customers to fully decarbonize their building operations.”

Decades of innovation in the ATES space from Enopsol will continue under Energy Machines leadership to address the growing need for thermal storage in heat pump-based energy systems. The companies' combined technologies and portfolios will firmly position Energy Machines as the dominant supplier of software-driven energy systems helping to decarbonize the Danish building market.

“Energy Machines and Enopsol are strategically aligned in their shared philosophy of broadening the prevalence of optimized energy systems for buildings. By joining the Energy Machines group, Enopsol was provided the opportunity to further solidify its mission to become the de facto standard for ATES-based systems in Denmark,” said Stig Niemi Sørensen. “With our combined expertise and shared vision, Energy Machines will have the capacity to bring industry-leading innovation to our expanding customer base both in Denmark and abroad."

About Energy Machines

By combining proven best-of-breed technologies with purpose-built digital platforms, Energy Machines enables buildings to operate as fully integrated systems that outperform traditional alternatives on operating cost, energy usage, and carbon emissions. With deep expertise in software-driven design of integrated energy systems, Energy Machines has completed over 90 large-scale heat pump-based geothermal energy systems across Scandinavia. By turning every building into a high-performance energy machine that generates, stores, and reuses its own energy, Energy Machines believes that, together, we can accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Energy Machines is a privately held Danish corporation headquartered in the Copenhagen/Malmö area with centers of excellence located throughout Scandinavia.
