Japanese delegation visits Energy City Frederikshavn
The Japanese are visiting in honour of the local shipman Johannes Knudsen, who sacrificed his life in 1957 in an attempt to save Japanese fishermen.
During the visit, the delegation was presented for the municipality’s four growth areas, which are energy, tourism, food and the maritime business.
The delegation visited Energy City Frederikshavn at Knivholt Manner to get an introduction to the growth area ‘energy’. Project Director Poul Rask Nielsen gave a presentation on the municipality’s energy goals for 2030 and on Energy City Frederikshavn’s activities and local initiatives.
Poul Rask Nielsen says, ‘It is always a pleasure to present Frederikshavn Municipality’s work with green energy to international visitors. Besides sharing our knowledge, it also gives us the opportunity to learn how our visitors work renewable energy and sustainability at home. Frederikshavn Municipality will enter a friendship agreement with the Japanese delegation, and we hope that it can result in business development and local job creation for energy businesses in Frederikshavn Municipality.’
After the presentation, the delegation had a guided tour at Knivholt. They were presented for some of the installations and projects, which Energy City Frederikshavn exhibits at the manner. Especially, the Vice Governor of the region was interested in the green transition from for example heat pumps, which utilise heat from earth, water or air. Also, wave energy and the involved technology was of great interest and brought up a number of questions.
