Energy City Frederikshavn strengthens its cooperation with Twin City Bremerhaven
Bremerhaven has its own energy project ‘Klimastadtbüro’, which can be a gateway to the German export market. Klimastadtbüro works with a number of initiatives similar to those in Energy City Frederikshavn, and the cooperation will focus on the transition to 100% renewable energy and the reduction of Co2 emissions. The Twin Cities have been cooperating since august 2015, and it is the positive past experiences with knowledge exchange and mutual learning that forms the basis of the extension of the cooperation and the signing a letter of the interest. The letter of interest means that Klimastadtbüro Bremerhaven and Energy City Frederikshavn will work together in order to develop applied and practicable projects.
- “In Energy City Frederikshavn we are happy to expand the cooperation with Klimastadtbüro Bremerhaven. We see a number of areas where we can be inspired by the initiatives in Bremerhaven, which we believe to be beneficial to our local businesses. The cooperation is a strategic step towards creating a more sustainable municipality and creating more workplaces”, says Poul Rask Nielsen, Project Director, Energy City Frederikshavn.
The agreement is an extension of Energy City Frederikshavn’s current activities, and it will strengthen its activities within energy optimization and jobs creation in Frederikshavn Municipality. The cooperation will focus on strategic energy planning, implementation, and follow up within the main categories of transition from fossil to renewable energy production, reduction of municipalities’ energy consumption and raise energy of their energy savings, and optimization of existing energy production installations and energy infrastructure.
