Safe and efficient lifting of towers for installation

The Tower upending tool (due to its shape, also called J-Hook) is a hook designed for guiding tower sections for wind turbines as they are being upended into a vertical position. It consists of 2 “J’S” which unfold as the tower section is being upended from horizontal position to vertical position. This way it is possible to control the tower section and prevent it from getting damaged, due to collision with objects or hitting the ground.

The main crane will lift the tower section at the top, while the secondary crane with the J-Hook is attached to the bottom of the tower section. The main crane and the secondary crane will both lift the tower section off the ground. When the tower section is approx. 1,5 meter from the ground, the tower section can be upended. The Main crane will lift, while the J-hook controls the bottom. While the tower section is upended, the J-Hook unfolds and keeps control of the tower section. When unfolded, the J-Hook is in perfect balance, making it easy to remove the tool from the tower flange. Special protection pads prevent the J-Hook damaging the tower flange. The J-Hook can easily be adjusted to different flange heights and widths, making it a versatile and indispensable tool for upending tower sections in a safe and controlled way.

Your direct advantages:

  •  Attachable om both sides
  •  Easy yo use
  •  Adjustable to different flange sizes
  •  Low maintenance
  •  Balanced J-hook = increased safety
