Manage the energy consumption of wired devices with an IO module

As the global population grows, so do our cities and towns by constructing new office and residential buildings, which account for most of the global energy consumption. It is no secret that this ever-growing increase in global energy consumption is a major contributor towards greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.

With the construction of new buildings, older ones that rely on wired technologies become less efficient, which means building managers have limited control and less data to use for making decisions. However, thanks the IoT’s ability to consistently track data, it is now possible to keep an eye on the energy consumption. Through sensors and other devices, building managers can  reduce energy consumption on their own rather than depending on central readings.

Bring your wired devices online

Typically, IoT-based tracking would only be compatible with wireless devices, meaning it becomes harder to track and regulate wired devices since they are not integrated into networks.  This is now a problem of the past, as it is now possible to bring wired devices into wireless solutions by using the digital IO Module from Develco Products.

The module allows solution providers to bring wired devices online, allowing customers to track and regulate their energy consumption through applications such as the Squid Smart App. This means customers have the opportunity to remotely collect data while simultaneously having control of their devices.

Multiple ways of regulating energy consumption

The digital IO Module facilitates connection of digital input and output for a wide range of devices. For example, you can connect a heat pump to a network and regulate its energy consumption, as well as making it consume energy in events where other appliances do not require electricity.

Waste reduction is also a benefit of using the IO Module, as business are able to upgrade any wired device without having to replace expensive PLCs or controllers.

More data means more informed decisions

With the IO module IoT solutions can become more efficient and able to cover more ground. Having more devices online means providers and consumers can access to more useful information, increasing the quality of analysis. This also applies for automated solutions as the gateway and the devices have access to more information, making them better equipped to deal with any issues they encounter.

With better information and data analysis, solution providers and customers can both make better and more informed decisions. These  can range from making smarter energy consumption choices in existing buildings or selecting more efficient equipment, to even using pre-collected data to design more efficient buildings for the future. This contributes towards a much-needed reduction in global energy consumption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while also benefitting your business.
