In last quarter of 2015, Bladt Industries A/S was awarded a PC contract by EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH for a total of 87 transition pieces for the Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm project. The contract is divided into two different projects with four different types of transition pieces.
The Walney 4 project is for the fabrication of 47 transition pieces at our production facilities in Aalborg, Denmark. They have a diameter of approx. 6 metres and an average weight of 400 tons each. At the OSB facilities (Joint venture between EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH and Bladt Industries A/S) in Great Britain, the 40 transition pieces for the Walney 3 project is fabricated with a diameter of between 6.5 - 7.4 meters and an average weight of 350 tons each.
Fabrication of both projects was started in the second quarter of 2016 and the projects are expected to be finished and ready for loadout in the third quarter of 2017.
The Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm will have a capacity of 659 MW and will be situated 19 km off the British coast in the Irish Sea.
