Agriculture needs immediate and concrete actions to reduce the man-made climate changes. At global level 18 percent of the total emission of greenhouse gases originates from agriculture, and a large proportion of this amount is believed to come from cattle farming.

A concerted effort from the agricultural sector requires insight into where exactly in the production chain greenhouse gases are leaked and what actions are possible to reduce emissions. In cattle farming methane is a particularly large source.

Scientists from Aarhus University are focusing on the different options available for reducing the emission of greenhouse gases from cattle farming – particularly the emission of methane.
