Aalborg CSP shares solar best practices with FEWA

FEWA is the authority responsible for catering the needs of both electricity and potable water for the population of the Northern Emirates. To fulfill the growing demand of water and electricity in the emirates in a sustainable manner, FEWA is looking towards sustainable solutions that address the water and energy security challenges the region is currently facing.

Organized by The Danish Trade Council's Environment and Water Advisory in MENA, FEWA have been visiting Denmark to learn more about renewable energy technologies. An interest in integrated energy systems – particularly those that include thermal desalination and biomass – has brought them to Aalborg and Aalborg CSP.

During the meeting, Aalborg CSP shared project experience from, among other things, the company’s two state-of-the-art integrated energy systems in Brønderslev, Denmark and Port Augusta, Australia respectively. Both systems are first of its kind and both suggest a strong match with FEWA’s ambition to achieve sustainable development in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the visit, FEWA got to see Aalborg CSP’s revolutionary green energy project in Brønderslev, Denmark. Here the visitors got acquainted with the world-first facility and the way it integrates the concentrated solar power technology with biomass and organic rankine cycle to achieve record energy efficiency, lower energy prices and a future-proof solution that is no longer dependent on fluctuating fossil fuel prices.
