EnergyLab Nordhavn to display Danish energy solutions in new showroom in Nordhavn

Nordhavn wants to be the most intelligent and innovative urban area in Denmark. The activation of a large warehouse together with the companies behind EnergyLab Nordhavn is therefore no coincidence.  The partners in EnergyLab Nordhavn represents some of Denmark’s leading companies within the business for utilities, buildings and energy. Together with the showroom, the co-working space EnergyHub will be established. It will be open to all companies engaged in sustainable urban development.

“The development in Nordhavn is moving fast, and the coming years will see many more families and companies move into the district. In Nordhavn, growth, and sustainable development must go hand in hand, and while the urban district is changing, there is a unique opportunity for the area to serve as a platform for the development of intelligent solutions that in long-term ensure quality for the district’s current and future citizens and businesses.” says Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, CEO, CPH City & Port Development.

The goal is to create an ecosystem where all enrich each other and create more knowledge and business across large and small businesses, the university, and the public stakeholders demanding sustainable urban development solutions.

Energy Commission recommendations to create growth
For more than two years the partners in EnergyLab Nordhavn has worked on developing innovative and sustainable solutions for the city of tomorrow. The collaboration and the establishment of the physical framework is a specific realization of the recommendations of the Energy Commission for leveraging the growth potential in new, innovative, coordinated, and digitized energy solutions. Up until 2030, USD 13,500 billion will be invested globally to meet the objectives of the Paris climate agreement. In addition to giving companies the best point of departure for creating business in a relevant professional community, the showroom will also be a hub for communicating the solutions that are implemented in the entire urban district.

“It is our vision that the new innovation centre and showroom—in close interaction with the environment at DTU in Lyngby with world-leading laboratories, research, and students—will become the European epicentre for the development of smart energy solutions. We are very much looking forward to a close collaboration with the enterprises which settle in the EnergyHub, and we will work hard to ensure that the emerging Danish position of strength within digital solutions becomes the new Danish business success story, which it has the potential to be” says Jacob Østergaard, Professor at Center for Electric Power and Energy, DTU Electrical Engineering and a member of the Energy Commission.

Partners behind the EnergyLab Nordhavn showroom: Danfoss, Metro Therm, ABB, HOFOR, Radius, PowerLabDK, and CleanCharge, Glen Dimplex Nordic, Balslev, CPH City & Port Development, the City of Copenhagen, and DTU. The project is funded by EUDP and runs from 2015 to 2019.

EnergyHub will be open to all and is developed and run by Urban Help and Scion DTU.
