Aalborg CSP has received yet another Indian million order

The order is to design and deliver a complete steam generator system based on 100% solar energy but designed in accordance with traditional boiler technology. The steam generator is to be handed over to the customer 10 months after Aalborg CSP has begun the production in China. The steam generator is to be part of a CSP plant which will deliver 25MW green electricity to the Gujarat region in northern India. Given that the energy demand in India is growing faster than in most other countries, the solar power plant is not only important because of the production of green energy but also of energy in general. To meet the great energy demand, high goals have been set for the building of power plants based on renewable energy, and in 2010, the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, launched a Solar Mission plan: A new national political debate that aims at achieving a production of 20GW electricity from the solar energy alone before 2022.

This is the second time within just 6 months that Aalborg CSP has received an order to a solar power plant in India. The first order included the design and delivery of a steam generator to the first large solar power plant in India, a 50MWe plant scheduled to start commercial operation in the spring 2013. Aalborg CSP considers itself to have a strong position in India and predicts many activities in the coming years.

Great opportunities in the BRIC countries

Since the time when Aalborg CSP entered the solar industry, the primary production of the company’s products has been carried out in China.  The sales director at Aalborg CSP, Peter Badstue Jensen, underlines that the combination of the Danish know-how and the Chinese production have established a solid foundation for the company’s competitive position internationally and says in this connection: ”We have really good experience with production in China, and so far we have had components made out there for an amount in the three-figure million range. Our main reason for using Chinese manufacturer is that they deliver quality which is difficult to find anywhere else in the world.”

Apart from having the production carried out in China, the Aalborg company is very confident that with the new 5 year plan, in which the Chinese government plans to expand the Chinese grid with more than 2,000GWe by installing the very CSP technology which is mastered by Aalborg CSP, there will be great potential for very close Danish – Chinese cooperation.

With this big international success within concentrated solar power, it has been possible for the Aalborg company, in the time of financial crisis, to create over 25 new green jobs in the organisation in Aalborg as well as an even bigger unknown number of jobs at the factory in China.
