What we know so far:

At this point, the information we have on the UNFCCC setup in Dubai is very limited. This is what we know so far:

  • The COP28 presidency has provided a high-level draft thematic programme: COP28 Program
  • Time: The UAE will be hosting the 28th session of the Conference of Parties (COP28) to the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) from 30 November 2023 to 12 December 2023
  • High-level days will be 1 – 2 December
  • Official Day of rest will be 7 December
  • Precidency: The Presidency position will be chaired by Sultan al-Jaber, the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology
  • Participation: COP28 will be a global event with participation from more than 80,000 delegates, including 140 heads of state and government, and more than 5,000 media professionals
  • Venue and accommodation: Dubai Expo City will serve as the venue for COP28. The layout of the zones is still unknown. Make sure to book accommodation well in advance. We recommend booking a hotel close to the metro line
  • Blue Zone Accreditations: Like the previous years, we hope to secure a good location in the Blue Zone, which requires special accreditations. We will update this information as soon as possible.
  • You can read more about accreditations here:

You can read more about COP28 at the UAE government’s official channel: COP28 UAE – United Nations Climate Change Conference
